Menopause Symptom Checklist
You’re gonna get it all barrels blazing. I might You’re gonna get it all barrels blazing. I might even breathe if you are lucky…

As a 51 year old mum of 3 ND kids, one with higher needs, who is AuDHD herself, perimenopausal and in the midst of a house renovation then please don’t ask how my day is going without wanting a full account, warts and all! Don’t do small talk…
“Just get up.” If only it were that simple. “Just get up.”

If only it were that simple.

For many children with ADHD, autism or a PDA profile, mine very much included, school mornings aren’t just frustrating – they’re genuinely difficult. What can look like laziness, defiance or a lack of motivation is often executive dysfunction, anxiety, sensory overwhelm or a brain that simply takes longer to get going.

This post is for parents who see their child is struggling but aren’t sure how best to help. Or for parents who struggle to understand the difference between a neurotypical brain in a morning and a neurodivergent brain (my OH being one of them!), and what simple steps can help.

In my latest blog, I’m exploring why some neurodivergent children take so long to get ready for school, what’s really happening behind the behaviour, and how understanding the “why” can help make mornings less stressful for everyone.

It is regularly a bone of contention in the morning when I have to get up two hours before Sam is due to leave for school, to give him enough time to wake and be ready.

Have school mornings become a battleground or a source of really stress for all involved in your house too?
I try hard for the boys to ensure Matt gets a day I try hard for the boys to ensure Matt gets a day he enjoys, but it never gets any easier…
So another week of no work here and it’s been lo So another week of no work here and it’s been lovely and quiet, but also quite frustrating. All workmen due back next week 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

Our builder did drop off some new windows to replace a couple of modern windows to ensure they are in keeping with the original ones.

I cleaned the ‘builders’ toilet as it’s the only down stairs loo, not the most pleasant job I have to say, but at least it means we can use. Hopefully the new suite will go in, in the next few weeks.

If you saw my post earlier in the week you’ll know that the office is now all set up so I can at least work from my desk now, which has made such a difference!

And my obsession with kitchen storage continues…

And yes I require a stool to open and reach the wall units (all because of our special little cupboard!)
Does anyone else hear the cava calling? Thursday Does anyone else hear the cava calling?

Thursday is practically the weekend is it not, and after last nights result it’s kinda be rude not too…
Struggling on socials at the moment. The house has Struggling on socials at the moment. The house hasn’t moved forward in a couple of weeks and we haven’t had a single workman here for over a fortnight now.

I’m trying to remain positive and get on with the bits I can, but the mess, the dust, the being out of control is starting to wear thin.

In a slump and I need to pull myself out of it…
