It’s amazing how long I went through life and as It’s amazing how long I went through life and assumed my struggles were my own personal struggles. That they were personal faults and not explainable brain differences. As the boys went through their ADHD assessment and diagnosis, and my realisation that I very likely had ADHD surfaced (alongside entering menopause - which brings a whole other set of struggles) I realised why throughout my adult career I had struggled to ‘achieve my potential’ and get past my personal barriers. AuDHD brings it’s own complications as your brain is in conflict with itself. But a huge part of that is the understanding from yourself as to why your brain works the way it does. Never ever deny children a diagnosis for so many reasons, but mainly so they know that there is not a personal fault, it’s a difference! And knowing that difference can mean that we can support and tailor everything we do for them to achieve their best. Something so many take for granted…
So proud to be an ambassador for @audhd_uk 🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻 I spend a lot of my time being judged as a human being, especially as a woman and as a mother (as do we all, usually from those who should probably take some time to look inward instead). I hope that my time as an ambassador will help to raise awareness, acceptance and equity for all those with autism and ADHD but especially those of us late diagnosed women. Possibly help remove the judgement society seems to so readily apply 🫣

Being a SEN mumma is hard enough but when you are neurodivergent yourself it just adds an extra layer. My mum is my childminder, grandma extraordinaire, unofficial therapist and best friend. To all the SEN grandparents out there, we salute you🫡 And to @carrickizzy I couldn’t do it without you mum 😍
