So I may not be decorating this year (and for thos So I may not be decorating this year (and for those who know me, you’ll know how gutted I am!) but I can still enjoy the festive period in other ways. Love this from one of my favourite annual photos of the boys when they were young!

Try it out on @capcutapp

Merry Christmas guys!
Okay my lovely friends! I need your interior advic Okay my lovely friends! I need your interior advice…

The wallpaper is chosen and I think the paint is chosen @farrowandball Card Room Green for the panelling and woodwork.

But we have a ceiling quandary…

Do we paint the ceiling Green (to match the woodwork/panelling) or Cream (to match the wallpaper base)?
It’s been a busy old week (and weekend) at Hall It’s been a busy old week (and weekend) at Hall Farm!

On Wednesday all our radiators arrived from @victorianplumbinguk, yep all 15 of them! Our plumber arrives tomorrow, so can’t wait to see these getting fitted and really making an impact in the rooms!

On Friday, Scott from Rural Sweeps came out to check all our fireplaces. Frustratingly three of the six fireplaces have no chimney anymore, so will just be decorative. The open fire in the living room is in good quality and in current use till we have the radiators installed! 🤣🤣🤣 The music room needs to be re-lined if we want to use going forward and the log burner in the dining room has been condemned many years over. So we’ll need to get that looked at for sure!

The weekend was all about sand blasting, beams and walls were restored back to their former glory and natural state, so beautiful! It’s not for the faint hearted though, the fire alarm didn’t like the dust 🫣 and the house resembles a bit of a beach throughout, but absolutely worth it.

Today the guys have begun sanding the floorboards in the music room, and we’re choosing paint for that trim and the living room to try and be in by Christmas. What do you think of the choices?! I need to see what it looks like on the wall 🙏🏻 #exciting

Hope you’re enjoying the updates, i’ll try and do some detailed posts on the website to cover some of the services/processes we’ve had so far.
Happy 14th birthday to the biggest wee farming fel Happy 14th birthday to the biggest wee farming fella in the family!

If we’re being honest it’s been a sh*t year for him. You know when you think it can’t get any worse, then it does… but he’s risen above it, walked away, tried hard at school and just made us so so proud. They still try, they still push, never quite able to leave him be, but he’s moved on. Maybe that’s what they don’t like!

Here’s to an exciting new year 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Was absolutely just mucking about on @capcutapp wh Was absolutely just mucking about on @capcutapp when I came across this AI template.

Our mum is such an amazing woman. A strong, independent (somewhat stubborn 😉) single mum, who brought up 3 girls single handedly and worked her butt off to provide us with so many happy memories from our childhood.

As we’ve grown up, she’s always been there for us. I cannot thank her enough for giving up everything to move down here and help me when I needed her most. I most definitely would not be here now if it wasn’t for her.

We all too often forget that our parents were young once. I love that this photo of mum (isn’t she stunning!) has come to life and reminded us all of the journey she has been on through her life to where she is now. I know all who know her, think the world of her. She really is one in a million 🤎🤎🤎🤎🤎🤎🤎
Sam’s birthday is this weekend so obvs I do have Sam’s birthday is this weekend so obvs I do have to buy him something 🤪😉 but he really doesn’t get the waiting thing, so has already had a couple of his birthday presents. Christmas will be no different.

Unfortunately ‘no’ doesn’t work either (I can just hear the non-parents and NT parents shouting at my phone now) and whilst I could explain myself on this, I’m not going to. I can parent my children as I see fit and in a way that I know works for/with them. It’s all about a little give and take, reducing pressure on him and throwing off the societal expectations of special days being a certain way! Do what works for you and your family!

Kids with Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA) often find birthdays, Christmas, and other “special days” very difficult. These occasions contain a mix of intense expectations, loss of control, social pressure, and unpredictability—all things that can heighten anxiety for someone with PDA.

Here’s what typically makes these days hard:

1. Pressure and Expectations Feel Like Demands
2. Loss of Control
3. Uncertainty and Surprises
4. Anticipation Anxiety
5. Social Overload
6. Emotional Intensity
7. “Fun” Activities Are Still Demands

Fellow SEN parents, what changes have you implemented on special days that have really helped you as a family?!
