Menopause Symptom Checklist
If any of these issues are what you are about then If any of these issues are what you are about then you’ve found your community!

I’m Fay, a 51 year old perimenopausal woman awaiting assessment for AuDHD. With 3 ND boys and a house renovation life is chaotic! Ring a bell? Welcome, stick around for some fun 🤪
So how easy did you find it to get your GP to take So how easy did you find it to get your GP to take you seriously?!

As a 51 year old AuDHDer who has been in perimenopause for nearly a decade, believe me I’ve been there!

It took me 6 years and 3 different GP’s to finally get the diagnosis and HRT! But more about that tomorrow…

So, if you’re a late diagnosed AuDHD woman in perimenopause who is finally realising why her whole life felt harder than it should. If you’d like someone who knows what she’s talking about, honest, and with a little humour chucked in their for good measure, to help you figure out what to do with the voice rising inside her, then you’ve found your community!
Nobody tells you about the AuDHD tax. It’s the h Nobody tells you about the AuDHD tax. It’s the hour you spend preparing to start something. The energy it costs to switch between tasks. The complete shutdown after a social interaction that should’ve been fine.

It’s not laziness.

It’s not poor time management.

It’s a nervous system that runs on a completely different operating system to the one the world was designed for. I’m 40-something, somewhere on an NHS assessment pathway, and I’ve spent most of my adult life thinking I was just bad at being a person.

Turns out I was just undiagnosed. If this landed; follow me. I talk about AuDHD, perimenopause, and renovating a Victorian farmhouse with a brain that wasn’t built for any of it.
This just made me chuckle so much last week. The d This just made me chuckle so much last week. The dopamine rush and excitement of buying new bowls for Daisy from @urbanpetshopuk followed by the complete lack of short term memory to remember that I had moved said bowls to the boot room 🫣🫣🤪🤪

Wonder when that will kick in?!

What’s the symptom of menopause that you’ve struggled with the most?!
Being AuDHD and perimenopausal certainly makes for Being AuDHD and perimenopausal certainly makes for a ‘fun’ ride! The emotional rollercoaster, the confidence one week, the insecurity for the rest of the month, the inability to do the simplest task but ensure a whole household continues to function daily, not remembering why you came into a room, but remembering your childhood landline number, one minute being too hot, the next freezing cold. The list goes on!

I’m Fay, a 51 year old neurodivergent perimenopausal mum of 3. Barely holding it together while also working and renovating a Victorian farmhouse 🤪 If you feel like you are losing the plot most of the time, then welcome to your community!
Perimenopause makes ADHD worse. The oestrogen dro Perimenopause makes ADHD worse.

The oestrogen drop affects dopamine. Which means the executive function issues, the emotional dysregulation, the overwhelm — all of it cranks up just as your body is also doing fifty other alarming things.

If you’re AuDHD and perimenopausal, you’re navigating both of those things at once. With a nervous system that was already running on fumes.

And barely anyone is talking about it.

I’m not a doctor. I’m a woman in my 50s who is living this in real time, and has been for almost a decade now, whilst trying to make sense of it all. If you’re in the same situation: the brain fog, the burnout, the feeling that you used to cope better than this; your hormones might be a bigger part of that picture than you think.

If you haven’t already, talk to your GP. And follow me if you want honest, lived-experience conversation about this.
